adventures of mascarah.

I've just begun a new decade. Sigh.

I have always wanted to be "a writer" but I'm lost somewhere in the prologue...whittling away at a story I may never tell.

Likes: pop culture. my chihuahua. architecture. modern art. elizabeth street. contemporary designer apparel. food. travel. foreign films. speakeasys. live music. politics. hot sauce. surprises. running in the rain. strangers. wednesdays. fearlessness...and 100s of other random things... maybe even you.

A southerner by birth, northerner by the grace of God, I'm simply a nyc gal who is lost somewhere on my constant exploration of the city and the life, love, and pursuit found within it.

mascarah:

What does one wear to a super important meeting with a very fashionable magazine?

Ps- Paging Mary! I can’t even deal with this without you in this country.

I’m here for you love.

Here are a few of my favorite go-to outfits:

  1. Sheer, knit, sleeveless turtle neck with camisole underneath and either skinny or box leg trousers.
  2. Classic LBD with killer shoes.
  3. White, crisp button down tucked into skinny jeans with heels.  (For a more casual meeting.)
  4. Simple, tailored dress in a bold color they won’t forget.
  5. Pucci or Missoni dress - you just can’t go wrong.

I NEVER:

  • Show cleavage or too much leg.
  • Wear a crazy pattern, a lot of accessories, or leggings.
  • Wear a pencil skirt.  It says you’re trying too hard.
  • Carry a hobo purse.
  • Incorporate too many trends.  One or two demonstrated flawlessly is better than too many piled on top of one another.

ALWAYS:

  • Keep my style classic.
  • Wear a watch.
  • Carry a tote with its contents organized.
  • Bring a jacket or cardigan in case its so cold I can’t think straight.

Hope this helps!

Mary to the rescue! Thanks Rabbit! And many thanks to all of you for your fabulous suggestions. You can’t reblog “answers” to questions so you’ll have to read them all here.

So helpful you have NO idea.
