adventures of mascarah.

I've just begun a new decade. Sigh.

I have always wanted to be "a writer" but I'm lost somewhere in the prologue...whittling away at a story I may never tell.

Likes: pop culture. my chihuahua. architecture. modern art. elizabeth street. contemporary designer apparel. food. travel. foreign films. speakeasys. live music. politics. hot sauce. surprises. running in the rain. strangers. wednesdays. fearlessness...and 100s of other random things... maybe even you.

A southerner by birth, northerner by the grace of God, I'm simply a nyc gal who is lost somewhere on my constant exploration of the city and the life, love, and pursuit found within it.

Happy Birthday, Mary!
On April 3, 2008 I met Mary at a random Matt White concert at Blender Theater (pictured above). We didn’t immediately become friends but throughout the course of the next 2 years we certainly have.
Mary has taught me (and reminded me) of so much. She’s inspired me to go after what I want with conviction. That life is only lived fully when you’re living it with passion. To always find happiness in the little things. To not be with anyone who doesn’t realize how awesome I am. That it is possible to have fun anywhere if you’re with a good friend. That Organic Avenue is amazing.  Ditto on Casa Mono. To be thoughtful with gifts and words. How to use Skitch (AND TweetDeck!) That if you work hard, you can inch closer to your dreams. That often the only person who limits us is the one we see in the mirror. How to write a good resume. How amazing (and scary and hard f-ing work) entrepreneurship is. How to properly apply lip gloss. That vegan cookies are yummy. That true friendship is filled with laughter and isn’t bound by geography. And so much more….Love you, Mary.
