adventures of mascarah.

I've just begun a new decade. Sigh.

I have always wanted to be "a writer" but I'm lost somewhere in the prologue...whittling away at a story I may never tell.

Likes: pop culture. my chihuahua. architecture. modern art. elizabeth street. contemporary designer apparel. food. travel. foreign films. speakeasys. live music. politics. hot sauce. surprises. running in the rain. strangers. wednesdays. fearlessness...and 100s of other random things... maybe even you.

A southerner by birth, northerner by the grace of God, I'm simply a nyc gal who is lost somewhere on my constant exploration of the city and the life, love, and pursuit found within it.

I’m sorry you are leaving.

I hate that you put me in the same category as people who would say “Please kill yourself. You’re completely worthless” as I would never say anything like that nor think that about anyone, even people I am not that fond of. That is way over the line for me.

When you cited my post in your goodbye posting you cut out the meat of my comment: my not understanding why such a smart clearly talented man would post a photo of pot and publicly thank himself for sending traffic to people who took the time/effort/thought to answer a public question.

Obviously, they respected you enough to answer your question, so why not respect them enough to simply thank them and not thank yourself for featuring their replies?

Despite me disagreeing with your treatment of these people, I do regret what I said. Mainly because I really do find you to be a smart, interesting blogger and I meant my comments to be constructive and honest, not in the same camp as death wishes. The fact that it was construed that way makes me sad and I apologize.

As for my comments about your looks—I’ve discussed with several ladies and we simply thought you were cuter with the shag. It wasn’t meant with mean spirit, it was simply my opinion.

I think the problem with email/blogging/text messaging is that you can’t read someone’s tone and things can easily get misconstrued. I can say with 100% sincerity that I meant it in jest, I did not mean it maliciously.

I really apologize for having contributed to the hate parade. I wish you all the best, off and online. I hope if we shake hands one day you will see that I truly am a nice person, who just likes shaggy hair and dark frame glasses.

Best,

Sarah
