I've just begun a new decade. Sigh.

I have always wanted to be "a writer" but I'm lost somewhere in the prologue...whittling away at a story I may never tell.

A southerner by birth, northerner by the grace of God, I'm simply a nyc gal who is lost somewhere on my constant exploration of the city and the life, love, and pursuit found within it.

Help! I went to the eye doctor and (shocker!) I needed glasses and contacts. I ordered some cute Prada glasses (see above) but I have NO IDEA how to take these dang contacts in and out. I’m doing a miserable job. Anyone have any tips? Pointers? Want to be my perma contact assistant? I’ll pay you in wine?

Update: I should clarify. My doctor DID have me do it several times in the office. I Just walked out and freaked out that I won’t be able to do it later. Thank you for all the awesome advice! Keep it coming!

  1. graceinplace answered: Oh honey! It just takes time … you’ll get the hang of it. All the above advice is perfect!
  2. gasp-shock answered: Try different directions with each eye. For my right, I look towards my nose to apply; for my left, I look down. Weird, but it works!
  3. dreaminginexile answered: I hate putting it directly onto my pupil so i look up, stick it on, and the move my eye back down before letting go. open mouth relaxes face.
  4. ginnygal answered: For some reason, you’ve got to open your mouth, just like applying mascara… :)
  5. littlelg answered: Mine wouldn’t let me leave the doc until I could put them in/take them out so I practiced before with putting drops of water on my finger.
  6. wongers answered: I only wear my contacts once in a while because I like my glasses. It just takes practice with contacts.. you’ll get used to it eventually :)
  7. rhymeswithemma answered: It took me a couple of years to get used to my contacts. But to be fair, I was 11 when I got them.
  8. tiffany answered: All I can say is you’ll get used to it. Just don’t stop wearing them everyday. I’ve been wearing contacts since 6th grade, you will get it!
  9. pinkhotel answered: your eye doctor should have taught you this before letting you walk out with contacts! go back or find a new doc.
  10. buildingaladder answered: I use my pointer finger and thumb to gently “pinch” it out. Edges should not be curved out, but rather inward, when you’re putting it in.
  11. jackiegarlich answered: i can help!! i do this as part of my job everyday! email me: jackiegarlich@hotmail.com
  12. goodeggs answered: i use my ring fingers to pull up/down my respective eyelids & use my ring middle finger to slip the lens off of my eye. just takes practice!
  13. nb808 answered: they should help you put them in because they need to check your eyes to see if they fit right! GO BACK ASAP!
